Engine CFD Engineer

FLSA: Exempt

This professional, exempt position performs computational fluid design (CFD) analysis of intake / exhaust / gas flow, etc. systems. Overall responsibilities include CFD pre- and post-process, model setup / execution, as well as interpretation and presentation of the results to various audiences. Key to this role is the ability to recommend optimization of the test engine design based on the findings from the model test results.

The ideal candidate will have a Masters degree (Ph.D. preferred) in Mechanical or Thermal Engineering (showing an emphasis in fluid dynamics and heat transfer) with a minimum of two (2) years in engine CFD simulation; 1 D system modeling (spray / combustion models & engine cycle simulation), Unix/Linux system familiarity, and Star CD (or Converge) experience required. This role not only calls for a keen simulation evaluator who is familiar with the latest trends but a professional who is willing to interject creativity into solving design challenges. MicroSoft office, detailed documentation, team communication and effective presentation skills are also a must.

This position works in both an office (with extensive computer work) and lab environment (with various engines, fuels and components). The employee must be able to occasionally lift up to 20 lbs and is routinely required to sit, walk, talk, hear, keyboard, manipulate small and large objects and move around the facility. This position has limited travel requirements (approximately two trips a year).
